Mother Matters is owned and operated by Lenore Kilmartin. Our team offers a full range of support for pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and postpartum. Lenore is an experienced CAPPA certified doula who has been helping in the birthing, breastfeeding and postpartum fields for over twenty-five years. She is the mother of five adult children and the grandmother of six grandchildren. As an advocate of empowered childbirth, Lenore brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion to her role as doula, educator and mentor. She sees birth as a unique opportunity for women to draw on their inner strength and believes that all women, together with their partners and families, benefit when they approach childbirth, breastfeeding and mothering with confidence, knowledge and support.

IBCLC, Birth and Postpartum Doula
Ashley trained at the International Breastfeeding Centre and became an IBCLC in 2012. Ashley is committed to helping support families on their breastfeeding journey and offers private lactation consulting. In addition, she works part-time at the International Breastfeeding Centre. Ashley has training as both a birth and postpartum doula through DONA and CAPPA and holds many other certifications including Babywearing Educator, Infant Sleep Educator and Attached at the Heart Parenting Educator. Ashley is able to support not only breastfeeding but all aspects of parenting a newborn and growing family. She has a special interest in providing guidance for families navigating diabetic pregnancies and breastfeeding.

MSW, RSW, Counselling
Fahreen is a Registered Social Worker with 10 years of experience supporting clients with issues including depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, life transitions, stress, parenting and more. Her interest in perinatal mental health developed when she became a mother almost 4 years ago. She offers support for postpartum anxiety, postpartum mood disorders and for couples/parents navigating parenthood. She has completed a Baby-Led Sleep and Well-Being Specialist to support parents with baby and toddler sleep from an attachment framework (no Cry It Out). She is also a Certified Attached at the Heart parenting educator to support parents in understanding developmental psychology, attachment principles and provide concrete ways to help raise resilient children. Jennifer is a DONA certified doula and a member of Doulacare. She holds a B.A. in Art History, was a registered veterinary technician before becoming a mother. Jennifer has been an accredited Leader with La Leche League Canada for more than 10 years, supporting mothers with their breastfeeding and mothering. It was after the birth of her second child, having a doula at her side, that she knew she wanted to help women feel empowered by their birth experience. She has supported various births and families in the community. Jennifer is the mother of three beautiful children and enjoys gardening, camping, visits to the cottage, and raising her chickens. As a doula, she brings a warm, caring support for the mother and her partner, encouraging the mother to create her own birth story.
Gina has been a DONA certified birth doula since 2013. She found her passion for doula support after attending the birth of her grandchild. Gina feels inspired when she sees women draw on their inner strength to bring their babies into the world and feels it is an honour and a privilege to be a doula.
Gina also has certification as a birth and bereavement doula with Stillbirthday. She provides calm, caring and compassionate birth support and has experience attending home and hospital births, including VBAC's. Besides spending time with her husband, two adult children and her two grandchildren, Gina loves riding her horse, yoga and running.
Birth Doula, RMT
Abigel is an RMT, a DONA trained birth doula and the mother of three children. She has always had an interest and passion for supporting women thruogh the miraculous transformation of pregnancy and childbirth. She has taken additional training and has been specializing in pregnancy massage since 2004. During the births of her own children, she had three very different experiences ranging from homebirth to induction. These experiences have given her a strong desire to help women feel empowered even when their birth plan needs to change. Abigel likes cooking, reading, healing through foods and spending time in nature with her husband, children and the family dog.
Robyn is the mother of four beautiful children. As a doula and childbirth educator, she believes that she passes on the care, support and encouragement she received to her clients as they prepare for the labour and birth of their own children. She has faced several of the challenges that new mother’s face as they adjust to their new role and when learning the art of breastfeeding.
Robyn is a DONA trained Birth Doula and a CAPPA trained Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Doula. She has experience with birth in hospital and home settings, with both Midwives and Obstetricians. She has attended many different types of births and supports each client in achieving the birth that she desires through physical, emotional and informational support. She began teaching with Mother Matters in 2005 and until recently has taught mostly private childbirth classes.

Natalie is a CAPPA trained Childbirth Educator. She holds a BSc. from the University of Toronto, and currently works in the field of clinical research. Natalie spent over 6 years volunteering with La Leche League in Oakville, supporting mothers on their breastfeeding journeys. After having three children of her own, she knew she wanted to be a part of informing and empowering couples through childbirth education. She enjoys spending time with her family, running, playing the guitar, and trying new plant-based recipes.
